American Chess Magazine (“ACM”, “we”) runs acmchess.com. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to opt out.

What we collect

Chess 2028 Day-to-Day Calendar companion (acmchess.com/c/). When you sign up we receive your email address, your first name (if you give it), whether you want the daily puzzle reminder, the calendar page you were on, and the date and time. From your connection we also record your approximate location (city, region, country, taken from your IP address) and basic device and browser information.

Subscriptions, orders and other forms. If you subscribe, buy, contact us or sign up for our newsletter, we receive what you enter (for example name, email and shipping address). Card payments are handled by Stripe; we do not store your card number.

Anonymous counts. We count visits, solved puzzles and clicks to partner links without identifying you.

Cookies and storage on your device

  • A cookie that remembers you already signed up on the calendar pages (up to about 13 months), so we don’t ask again.
  • A short-lived cookie (2 minutes) used to show a “Thanks” note after you sign up.
  • Local storage in your browser that remembers which moves you tried on a puzzle and whether you dismissed the install prompt.

You can clear these at any time in your browser settings.

How we use it

  • To let you play the calendar puzzles and to remind you of the daily puzzle if you ask for it.
  • To email you about the calendar, our puzzles and magazine, and new books (see below for who sends).
  • To fulfil subscriptions and orders, answer your messages, and keep the site secure and working.

Who receives your information

Rizzoli Universe. The Chess 2028 Day-to-Day Calendar is published with Rizzoli Universe. When you sign up on the calendar pages, you agree that both American Chess Magazine and Rizzoli Universe may email you about the calendar, puzzles and new books, and we may share your sign-up details (such as email and first name) with Rizzoli Universe for that purpose. Rizzoli Universe handles that information under its own privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it if the law requires.
